PWA Authentication

S

SGibbs

When logging on, all users are getting the domain credientials box and not
the project logon page. Link being used is:
http://project.xxxx.com/projectserver/lgnps.asp

I have PWA authenticated users who now can't access their projects because
they are not getting the logon page. Why would this be happening all of a
sudden? The authentication is still set at mixed.

Something changed to require authenticated access to IIS before the PWA page
is even served up, and they don't have it.

Hi SGibbs,

It sounds to me that the Directory Security of the IIS PWA web site has
changed. The Authentication and access control default settings are:

Enable anonymous access
Integrated Windows Authentication

You need to enable anonymous access in order to get access to the PWA
Login page if you are using Project Server Authenticated accounts. By
default on a new installation there are no Windows Authenticated
accounts.

Hope this helps...

Cheers,

Do these users have domain accounts on the same domain or a trusted domain
where the PWA server is installed? Usually when someone uses PWA
authentication instead of Windows authentication, it's because the users do
not have domain accounts or they use a shared computer with a common logon.

If they have domain accounts as noted and they are logged in using them,
make sure that the PWA server is listed as a Trusted Site in IE and that the
default zone setting (Low) is selected.

For whatever reason, we have users that sometimes lose the above settings.
