PWA CAL Licensing

It is my understanding that a CAL is dowloaded once you connect to PWA.

My question:

If I have 10 people in the resource pool and only 2 of these people use PWA,
then I am responsible for paying for 2 CALs?

In other words, the total number of CALs is equal to the number of people
that use PWA, not the total number in the resource pool.

Correct?

I believe that is correct. You could have thousands of bogus resources in
your resource file. It would be insane to have to have a licence for all of
them. This is only my opinion though. I don't speak for microsoft.

For a definitive answer I suggest that you read the EULA (end user license
agreement) that came with the software. You can usually find it on the CD or
a computer which has the software installed . Search for "EULA" and it
should turn up.

Thanks. Spoke with an MVP yesterday and he confirmed what we were thinking.

He suggested a good way to lock-down the number of PWA users is by placing
the unlicensed users in a specific group in PWA called "Unlicensed" and deny
this group the ability to login to PWA.

Yes, Jack, but if you don't say so in your sig how can anyone know? :)
