PWA Home Page Views for Project Workspaces

Darrell

Is it possible to create/modify views for the "Project Workspaces" section of
the PWA Home page? It would be nice to be able to filter this view by project
type etc.

Sorry to say that the built in webpart that shows Project Workspaces does
not have the capability to modify the pre-existing views. There is only
"All Workspaces" or "Owned Workspaces". This list can become extremely
large as projects get closed out in the future but still reside on the
server with workspaces. I usually remove this webpart and have the users
navigate to workspaces via Project Center where they can group and filter on
any project information.

Hi Darrell,
This is very easy to do. Open up the relevant view in server settings; and
click on the filter button. Filter in or out the values you want. Note that
wild card filtering (*, ?) are not supported in Project Server 2007.

Jonathan's advice is spot on, however I add a little twist to this; what I
do is create a new webpart page, move the workspaces view to the new page
and create a new High-level link (Project Workspaces) on the Quicklaunch
menu to access it

Gary,

That is an excellent idea! I think you can control the number per page so
you could quickly go to the page containing a specific workspace once the
list grows as well correct?

Darrell:

It's not a SharePoint view, so it doesn't have that nifty control to limit
the items returned. Remeber that you're still using the same webpart with
all its limitations. This just gets the damn thing out of the way. There are
lots of things that provide better content for the home page, like the
Project Center view or important dashboard items.
