PWA License needed for non-PWA resources?

A

Al Himler

I've read through the licensing threads, but don't think I've seen an answer
to the scenario I'm encountering.

We have Project Managers, Execs, and some administrative staff that will be
using our Project Server system. Each has Project Professional so they have
a CAL to the Project Server environment.

We are not currently planning on using the collaborative aspects of Project
Server (that may come later), so individual team members will not be using
the Project Server / PWA system for time cards or anything else. But, the
Enterprise Resource Pool will include all of those staff members so that
Project Managers can build their project teams from the pool.

Do people in the Enterprise Resource pool who don't have a Project Pro
license and won't be using PWA have to have a Project Server CAL just because
they are in the Resource Pool? If not, how do I subtract them so that they
are still available in the Resource Pool, but not in CAL count?

Thanks,
Al

I believe you need CAL's for only those resources who actually log into and
use PWA. Check with your Microsoft rep for a definitive answer, however.
Hope this helps.

you need a cal when the person log in
a resource is not neccessar a user (=cal)
--e.g. for material and machine as ressource you don't need a cal
