PWA Resource Center availability data inconsistency

Hi,

I am using Project Server 2007's resource center to display resource
availability data, and I am finding considerable differences between
what I see in PWA and what I see in MS Project. For instance:

A particular resource shows up in PWA as having 8 hours work assigned
for each of two projects on a certain date. These two projects are
part of a Master Project. If I open each project individually in MS
Project, one of them is inconsistent with the Resoure Center. In MS
Project I see zero hours assigned on a certain date, and I see 8 hours
on the same date in Resource Center.

The OLAP cube has been processed after making the last change to these
projects.

Also, when I check resource usage in the master project, the totals
don't add up correctly in the "Other Projects and Assignments"
summary. The aggregated value is always much higher than the sum of
the lines. Why? There are no filters applied to my view.

Why am I seeing these differences? I assume there is a different
source for data shown in PWA's Resource Center and for the data shown
in MS Project, but I can't figure out why these large discrepancies
are showing up...

Thanks in advance,

Fernando

First off I would turn off the setting "Load Summary Resource Assignments"
on the login page (note: you have to have your connection state set to
manual). This feature has some bugs in it in 2007 that haven't all been
fixed with SP1 or Infrastructure Update.

Also, this will allow you to see the data more cleary and not get confused
as to what hours are coming from where.

Then I would open each schedule individually and validate the hours for that
day are correct and then make sure to publish the projecst so that the data
gets into PWA.
Validate that the publish jobs are completing successfully under PWA>Server
Settings>Manage Queue
Then rebuild the cube just to be sure
After that, go back and check the resource center assignments again and see
if they match.

You are right that the Project Professional data resides in the Draft DB
(working) and PWA data resides in the Published DB.
