PWA says "There is no information to display in this view". I say there is.

I know this is something that comes up on this NG often, and I have tried
everything I can think of to make it work. I get that error message in the
"View A Project" and "Resource Center" views. I can view resource
assignments in PWA, so I know the DB is online and populated. I can see
published projects in "Project Center" view also. If I create a new to-do
list, I can select resources to assign tasks to. These to-do list items show
up in "Project Center" and in "View A Project". Why can I see information in
one view, but not the others? I have Gary's book "Implementing EPM w/
MSPS2002". I have verified permissions on viewdrop folder, credentials for
accounts accessing SQL, MSP and STS. I have run the COM+ utility, proxycfg,
and IISreset. I have checked the info in the registry, used Editsite to
confirm DSN, file paths and test the virtual directory. My ProjectServer
installation is updated with SP1, and STS has the SP3 update applied. All
Enterprise resources were created from Project Professional (SP3 applied),
and can be managed in PWA Admin ->Manage Users and Groups. I have IIS,
Indexing Services, PWA, STS, and DSO installed on one server, SQL and
Analysis Services installed on the other. I have not run the "Distributed
Setup Tool", as had this configuration working in a previous installation
without using that utility. If that is the missing link, I would like some
clarification before I run it on the server hosting my SQL services. That
server is a Win2K Small Business Server. It is the domain controller,
Exchange Server, ISA Firewall, SQL Server, and Backup Services server. I
don't want to add anything to it I don't absolutely have to.

I have read the chapter in Gary's book and the resource kit on the web, but
there is conflicting information. The book states "Install the
self-extracting executable on your new application server. Navigate to...
and double-click prjsbox.msi." (P.126) I understood this to be on the SECOND
server you wish to distribute Project services to, not the server described
here "You should first establish your Project Server full installation on
the primary Web server before you use the tool to build application
servers." (P. 126). According to these instructions,
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...all/reskit/en-us/prk_sdistribdeploy_3535.mspx
I need to "Save Prjsbox.msi to a computer running Microsoft Project Server"
and "To run the Microsoft Project Server Distributed Setup tool,
double-click the file Prjsbox.msi.". I understand this to mean the .msi is
run from the server you establish your Project Server full installation on.
Which one is it?

Also, I don't want "Session Manager" or "Trace Service" on the second
server. I am uncertain if "View Processing" is dependant on SQL or not. I
think the only feature I want on the application server is "OLAP and
Reminder Processing". Could anyone enlighten me on if this is correct?

I apologize for the length of this post, but I want to provide as much info
as I can to gather the most relevant response.
