PWA Task Updates - Can't Connect to Microsoft Project Pro

Tracie

Hi,

I was training a new Resource Mgr in my organization and we encountered a
connection problem I haven't seen before.

He has Microsoft Project Pro 2003 with SP1 loaded. Also, have Project Web
Access loaded. When he tries to process timesheet updates (PWA - Updates
view), he gets an error message when trying to connect to Microsoft Project
Pro. Same error occurs regardless of whether MP Pro is already open:

"VBScript: Microsoft Office Project Web Access 2003. You need Microsoft
Project Pro 2002 or ....2003 in order to perform this action. If you are
using either of these versions, verify that a correct account for this
Project Server has been setup and selected by pointing to Enterprise Options
.......".

We "uninstalled" and re-installed Project Web Access in Internet Explorer.
We also deleted and recreated his Microsoft Project Server Account.

I do know that within MP Pro, he's successfully connecting to the server
because we created / published new task assignments that showed up on his
timesheet in Project Web Access.

I have many other Resource Managers in my organization and haven't
encountered this problem before....

Appreciate any ideas!!!

Hi Tracie,

I suspect your problem here is with the url that the user is using to
connecting to the server. The URL that is set up for the Project
Server account in MSP itself must be the same as the URL that the user
is using to connect to Project Web Access.

EG, if the user is connecting to PWA using http://servername, and the
MSP connection is set up for http://servername.domain then you will
experience this error.

Regards,
Nico
