PWA TasksTimesheet View-Filters for Project Level Data

Does anyone know how to handle creating a filter that allows users to filter
this screen based upon Project data - we have a lot of projects and users
always see the older projects listed - filters for incomplete tasks should
work ok but it does not especially when users are using this screen to
generate their timesheets for accounting - which we do by exporting to excel
and works great...just have to delelte the rows with the unwanted projects.
Very time consuming. Example: choose to filter out projects where the project
has state of closed. Anyone else having issues with this screen getting
overloaded with information?

The simplest method is to remove the task assignments for completed projects
from each user's timesheet page in PWA. To do this, ask your project
managers to complete the following steps:

1. Open a completed project in Microsoft Project Professional
2. Click Tools - Build Team from Enterprise
3. Set the Booking value to Proposed for each project team member
4. Click OK
5. Click Collaborate - Publish - All Information
6. Save and close the project
7. Repeat steps #1-6 for each closed project

An alternative is to archive completed projects using the steps detailed in
the following FAQ:

Hope this helps.

Hello Dale - Thanks for your reply. We will apply this technique to our older
closed projects right away. Hopefully the newer version of EPS will provide a
more graceful way of managing these types of assignments.

Hello Dale,

I applied your method of closing projects by setting resource booking
type to proposed. But it doesn't seem to be working for all projects.
Below is the behavious

1) Tasks (with 0 remaining hours) from completed projects still show up
in "All Tasks". (Is this by design?)
2) Tasks (with some remaning hours) from projects on hold show up in
both "All tasks" and "Current Tasks" in the resource's PWA timesheets.

I have about 400 resources and over a hundred projects so I am not sure
if this behavious is universal or only some users (the ones who have
complained) see it.

Any suggestions / tips on what I could be doing wrong that is causing
this would be helpful.

Thanks in Advance!

Deepa

ps: I just bought your books and they seem great. Thanks!!

Hello,

Could someone who has used this method to close projects please guide
me to what I could be doing wrong.

Thanks and Best Regards,
Dee

Hello Dee
We are having some similar behaviors as well. Most projects are removed as
expected but there are some that hang around for some people - not everyone
on the project. We are debugging now to try and figure this out...it looks
like it is tied to tasks that we manually closed out at actuals where the
resource in PWA did not change the remaining hours to zero and/or there is
another task that has dependecy for current tasks- does not automatically
change to 100% complete when we manually change Work to equal actual
work...still working on this one. We have only about 100 projects and so far
have had this problem with about 15 - that we know of....much less data than
you have to deal with. Not sure this help much.
