PWA Timesheets blank after deleting an old project

We archived 2005 projects and then deleted them from the Project Server.
Then we noticed that our timesheets are now empty. I went to republish the
2006 projects but the timesheets from the beginning of the year are still
empty. How can we get the data from the project plans on the server back
into PWA?

Deleting old projects from the system should NOT have cleared the tasks for
projects still in your database, so I'm not sure what is going on there. To
"push" the data from the 2006 Microsoft Project plans back onto each user's
timesheets in PWA, do the following:

1. Open a 2006 project in Microsoft Project Professional
2. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments
3. Select the "Overwrite actual work entered by resources" option
4. Click OK

Repeat this process for each 2006 project. Let us know if this resolves the
issue.

Dale: We did that for 2 of the 12 project plans to see if we could capture
our data back and nothing showed up in the PWA timesheets.

What should we do next?

When you say "our timesheets are empty" what do you mean exactly? Can
anyone see their tasks for the 2006 projects? Or are there no tasks on the
timesheets at all? Are you seeing errors on the server's application Event
Log? Let us know what you find.

Okay, here is the problem. I dont have access to overwrite actual work
entered by resources button, it is grayed out.

Check these things:

1. In PWA timesheet make sure you have 'All Tasks' selected under Tasks
Displayed on left.

2. See if you have any filter applied on timesheet.

3. Check the booking type of resources as 'Committed' in the Project plan by
going to 'Build Team from Enterprise' in tools menu & look for Booking Type
column infront of resources on the project. If it is proposed they won't see
the tasks in their timesheet.

Why don't you share with us the solution to this problem? Saying you solved
it without telling us how doesn't help anyone but you.

After the 2005 projects were deleted. Our 2006 projects were not showing up
on anyones PWA timesheets. I then went in and republished all of the 2006
projects and that put the time back on everyone's timesheet. However, now we
are showing unsubmitted timesheets for everyone. I went in to a few accounts
to resubmit the timesheets for the periods missing and got the following
message: There is no new information to submit.

Every account is showing that they are missing weekly timesheets for
1/1/06-3/11/06. However, they are not.

What should we do?

Have you upgraded Microsoft Project and Project Server to SP2a? Either SP1
or SP2 is supposed to eliminate the unsubmitted timesheets error. Let us
know.

S

Yes, we just did that this morning. I found that information you posted to a
discussion group member back in mid March. So far unsubmitted timesheets are
still showing up.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

BTW, I want to thank you for all your solutions to mine and everyone's
questions. You are very knowledgeable and always very quick to respond. Keep
up the good work! We need you!

Are you using Managed Time Periods? It sounds like you are. Let us know.

S

Yes, we are using Managed Time periods and I just closed the periods for
those weeks this morning. We still have the unsubmitted timesheets.

I am absolutely "drawing a blank" as to the cause of and solution to your
current problem. When then 2005 projects were deleted from the Project
Server database, this should have done nothing to the 2006 projects. Can
you confirm what exact steps your Project Server administrator used to
delete the projects? Is there any chance that he/she also deleted Tasks in
the Clean Up Project Server Database page in PWA? If so, that would account
for the missing tasks on people's timesheets. Let us know.
