I am on Project Server 2003 sp2 and Project Professional 2003 sp3.

There are only few project on which if i update the Task Enterprise Project
Text10 field, its not getting reflected into the PWA views. However, the data
is shown in the MSP_TEXT_FIELDS table under Text_Value column.

Another observation, when i save this project and close out properly (File >
Close), it still shows as checked out when i try to open it again.

Please help!

Hi Viren,

MSP_TEXT_FIELDS table will have values from MS project plan. To get
those values into PWA views, you have to publish the project plan.

Once you publish the plan, custom filed values will get populate to
web tables. So, those information can see in PWA.

(You can verify the published values from table called
MSP_WEB_VIEW_REPORTS_FIELDS)

On regarding check-out issue, it seems to be project plan is not
properly closing out. Are you using Terminal Services? I am not sure
what to say here, if you provide more details, it's better for to
understand the issue.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes i am using Terminal Services to connect to Server having Project Pro
2003 installed and from there I connect to Project Server using Project Pro.

This is a peculiar problem, when i open up a particular project and see the
information through Project Information, i can see the custom fields info. I
have also added custom fields to the PWA views, and the custom field info for
one particular field is not getting updated.

Also when the project is closed (File > Close), the next time you try to
open the project, it is in checked out mode. So i have to forcefully check-in
the project and then only i can open it using Project Pro in read/write mode.

Published Values for this field is not available in the table called
MSP_WEB_VIEW_REPORTS_FIELDS, this table only shows View ID, Field ID, Field
Order, Field width, Field autosize.

However, when i looked into the table, MSP_VIEW_PROJ_PROJECTS_ENT which has
the PWA views related info, i am unable to find this particular project.

Viren,

A) When you working on project plan in Terminal Services environment
and closing the terminal services window without logging off from
terminal services causes projects been stayed in checked out mode.

I hope you already doing this; just I am listing the steps for your
convenience.

Best practice when you working on terminal services:

1) Log on to Terminal Services, it opens the separate window on your
machine

2) Open MS Project Plan and closed it after you done. (File -> Close;
File->Exit)

3) Right click on Start button of Terminal Services window; click log
off to close
the session completely.

After doing this above, still you are experiencing the same issue;
please I don't have answer in that case. Let experts suggest the
solution.

B) About PWA view: Yes, the above table I mentioned is related PWA
views and field IDs to display. I hope you are seeing your Field ID
here.

I would say, please do not worry about database table data. Please do
the following:

Steps:

1) Publish the project plan

2) Verify PWA view, whether it shows the field values or not; If not
verify the "View Drop" folder and make sure there are no unprocessed
XML files.

Thanks
Chak
