Q: bullets and numbering

G

G .Net

Hi

Can anybody tell me how to do the following?

I want to have an itemised list, which has a sub bullet list within it. For
example

1. This is the numbered field
@ bullet 1
@ bullet 2
2. This the second item
@bullet 1

where @ is the bullet symbol (I can't get it in plain text for this email).

I can create an itemized list or a bullet list but I can't seem to produce
both i.e. if I select itemized list and then press bullet I change the
itemized list I started with to a bullet.

Can anybody help?

Hi Geoff, you should set our list up as an Outline Numbered List using
styles and formatting, the first level would use 1. and the second
level would use a bullet. You can choose bullet from the Number Style
List drop down in the Customize Outline Numbered List dialog box. Once
you have set up the Outline Numbered List you should then create styles
to use this list. The first style would be Style 1 and the second
style you could call Style 2. When you create the styles, click on
Format, Numbering, Outline Numbering, select the outline list you
created earlier then click on Customize, from the Customize Outline
Numbered List dialog box, choose the Show More button and assign Style
1 using the Link Level to Style drop down. Click on OK. When you
create style 2, do the same as before but this time from the Customize
Outline Numbered List dialog box, choose the 2 from the Level list on
the left, then assign Style 2 using the Link Level to Style drop down.

No go back to Style 1 and click on Modify and in the drop down Style
for Following Paragraph, choose Style 2.

Now when you apply style one, the 1. appears, type some text and press
enter and the next line should display the bullet. Type some text, hit
enter and then apply Style 1 again and the number should be 2. and so
on. Hope you can understand this! Regards Lynn
