Quark XPress 6.52 and Excel crashes at the same time

In Quark XPress 6.52 (6.5 also for that matter).

If one makes an image box and choose "Get Picture..." from the "File" menu
(Command + M) and then happen to select an Excel document wacky things start
to happen. If you have Excel open it will crash and then a little later so
will Quark XPress. If you don't have Excel open it will launch only to crash
the next second and after a while XPress also goes down.

Something that can be done about this?

Not at all surprising as Excel files are not *pictures* - my first questions
is "When you go into a dialog to insert a _picture_ why do other file types
show up in the first place?". Second question: "Why does QX even _try_ to
access a non-graphics file when you are inserting a picture?".

Unfortunately the answer to those and any others that come to mind would
have to be answered by Quark. Have you tried their support site?
