Queries against attached data running slow on fast machine

I recently got an upgraded PC, dual core AMD processor, tons of RAM (2GB),
and an upgrade from office XP to office 2003. Since then, queries that I run
against attached SQL Server tables run dog slow. My old PC had a slower CPU
and 1GB of ram with Win XP, but otherwise, no changes. All my other software
seems to respond okay. Any ideas what might be slowing things down?
