We are about to publish a comprehensive review of the new version of the
CorelDraw Graphics Suite, version 12. In that review, we report on a greatly
improved PNG export capability that allows for extremely flexible import of
complex transparent graphics into PowerPoint. My personal experience is that
no other application supports PowerPoint as effectively as CorelDraw version
12.
However, we need to challenge that position a bit, and I would like to
invite proficient users of Illustrator, Photoshop, Freehand, Fireworks, or
JASC PaintShop Pro, to duplicate the results that we achieved. I have not
been able to, but I am not nearly as adept with those apps as I am with
Corel apps.
Please see our current review at http://www.altman.com/editorial
In particular, click Figure 1, run through the images there, and download
the presentation file. Those images use graduated transparencies and soft
drop shadows and have been historically difficult to create correctly for
PowerPoint. I would be most interested in knowing how well other
applications could do it. Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to
experiment with this...
