Query to Ex Data refresh changes formulas

I have a sheet DATA that contains a reference to an external data source. On
another sheet SUMMARY i have formulas that reference the cells in DATA.
Since i am not sure how many rows the data will occupy, i have the formulas
set to reference $A$1:$A$5000. there will never be more than 5000 rows of
data. However, when i refresh, my formulas get changed if the data changes
and now say $A$1:$A$5327.
I guess this is ok, but they are big array formulas and i have to set
calculation to manual. I am trying to keep the calculation speed optimized.
is there a way to keep the formulas constant?
