QueryDosDevice failure

I installed Office Enterprise 2007. As soon as I try to open the first of
any of the components, an error box appears that has the following message.
'!!! QueryDosDevice failed. More data is available'
When I 'click' the OK response, the error box disappears for about 15
seconds. I terminate Office, but the box continues to appear every 15 to 20
seconds. I uninstalled the OE 2007, and the problem disappeared. Then, I
reinstalled, and the problem reappeared.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
