QueryInterface for interface (failed for Outlook Task Items)

We are receiving the following error: Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook:
QueryInterface for interface Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._TaskItem
failed.

The SQL server has Windows 2003, SP1 installed and has also been updated
with the Vulnerability in WINS Could Allow Remote Code Execution KB870763
patch. We have a .NET application that is able to create the tasks but when
we need to read the tasks we receive the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook:
QueryInterface for interface Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook._TaskItem
failed error.

We are not sure how to debug the problem. Has anyone seen this issue? We
believe it was working before patch KB870763 was applied but there were other
patches updated as of 5/3. Are there any new patches that could affect
Microsoft Outlook 2003 which would be causing this issue. Has an exchange
patch been released that would cause security permissions reading or creating
for Outlook tasks.
