Question about document properties

In an MS Word 2003 document, the document properties show a "Created" date
and time on the 'General' tab, but a different "Created" date and time under
the 'Statistics' tab. Which one is correct?

Possibly neither of them. In theory the date in General is the date the
document was created. The date in Statistics is the date the document was
last saved with save as or repaired using the open and repair. Neither date
can be relied upon as truly accurate without supporting evidence.
