Question about MS Office 2004 for Mac

For Office 2004 of Mac version in German (retail version), is it
possible to install the Mac version Office on 2 Macs with one product
key? Someone I know owns this retail version and there are 3 product
keys on the back of the software case. He probably cannot remember
which product key is used to activate which Mac. Does anyone have any
idea? Thanks.

Office will let you re-use the keys to install without a problem, but if
you try to launch two networked versions that depend on the same key, it
will refuse the launch the second one. This is the US-edition
behavior--I doubt it differs for Germany.

Only trial and error will let you sort out which key belongs to which
computer. You can change the licenses without removing and reinstalling
however. Easiest method: Launch the Remove Office tool (apps/ms
office/additional tools/) and hold down Option at the first dialog, and
the "remove office" option will change to "remove licensing information".

If it helps, a single key will always produce an About number that is
the same except for the last five digits--so if you have two About
numbers that are identical until the last block of numbers, that's a
duplicate key.
