Question about Outlook 2003 Rules

Hi everyone,

I am using Outlook 2003. I want to set up rules to move email to specific
folders (not local ones) and to mark them as read. I have that part down, but
whenever I get a new email, the taskbar notifier (the little envelop by the
clock) comes on, even though the message is marked Read. I have in the rule
"Mark as Read" and "Clear the Message Flag" but neither removes the envelop
by the clock.

Is this possible to do via a rule? I still want the envelop to appear for
new emails, just not ones I move to folders.

PS: On a side note, is it possible to get rid of the Outlook task icon that
is always present? I know how to hide it, but I would like to remove it.

Thanks for any help. :)

no; no.

you can disable the icon and use a rule to show an alert but you can't stop
it from showing for messages that are moved.

if you are using windows xp you can set windows to hide it - look at the
taskbar properties.
