Question about Project 2007

Doug

I administer a small network (75 computers) with 11 Project users (some
Project 2000, some Project 2003). We are in need of a couple more seats of
Project and I'm not sure what to do relative to Project 2007 coming out. I'm
not one of the users, so I'm not very familiar with Project & what the new
features of 2007 are. What I'm more concerned about is the ability of
multiple versions of Project to co-exist on the network, and the ability of
Project 2007 to co-exist with Office 2003. All of our users are on OEM
Office 2003, and we don't plan to upgrade to Office 2007 until our next
computer purchase, which will be in 2009 (we replace all the computers every
3 years and just did so in April).

Any thoughts or suggestions about this? Should I hold off on new Project
purchases until 2007 is out (presumably in January)? Or should I stick with
Project 2003 and hold off until the upgrade to Office 2007 2-1/2 years from
now? Or buy the two new Project 2003 licenses and upgrade everyone
(including all the old Project 2000 users) when 2007 becomes available? I
wonder if there will be upgrade pricing?

Thanks for your input,

Project 2007 hasn't been released yet but when it does, it should co-exist.
You need to know though that the file format has changed due to some new
features.

Once '07 is released, they won't sell '03 any more. However, my
understanding is that you can buy an '07 license then use it as the license
for a PC but install '03 from another PC.

If you ever run Project Server then only Project 2003 Professional can talk
to Server 2003 and only Project Professional 2007 can talk to Project Server
2007.
