Question about saving a layout

I like to zoom all documents I'm working on to 185% in Page View in
Microsoft Word for Mac 2004. I'd like this to be the default view
when I open any Word documents. How can I save this workspace so
every document is opened at 185% zoom? Every time I save my document
in this zoom, when I open it again its back to 122% zoom. I've
looksed in prefs, but can find no settings. Thanks!

Hello Michael,

You should find that documents will re-open with the same zoom value you had
when you closed them (and the same view, e.g. Page Layout view).

To have blank new documents open at 185%, do a Spotlight search for
"Normal", which will find Word's Normal template (or [hard disc
name]/Users/[your user name]/Documents/Microsoft User Data). Open it, set it
at 185% via View menu -> Zoom, save and close. (Maybe you will need to quit
Word the first time to "set" it, but I don't think so; right now I can't
quit Word on my computer to check for you.)

If you want to have a reference on making a toolbar button that saves you
having to choose View menu -> Zoom -> [set percentage], post back...

Me again, Michael.

Have now had time to check.

You don't need to quit Word after amending the Normal template --just change
the zoom value and save, then close it. New blank documents from then on
will be in the zoom value you have chosen.

By the way, irrespective of the view you have been in when you have closed
the Normal template (e.g., Normal view or Page Layout view), Word will open
new blank documents in the same view as the last document you were in.

cheers,

Clive Huggan
