Question for Allen Browne about Quantity On Hand

I have several tables but I believe these are the most relevant
1-Product
2-Inventory transactions
3-Purchase Order
4-Stocktake
5-TblAcq
6-TblAcqDetail

I am trying to come up with a concept that goes soemthing like this:
1 - fill out purchase order(table 3 and table 2 make up form) this works
2 - Receive product (table 1 and 2 make up form) Having a problem with this
- the form works fine as long as there is only one delivery. I am trying to
use the idea of the acquisition table to be able to attach a delivery to a
certain po and certain product mulitple days, and different quantity - not
sure how to do this. So in other words, on 5/1/06 ordered 1000 cartons with
PO 12345. on 5/02/06 500 cartons delivered for PO 12345 and then on 05/06/06
another 500 cartons delivered for PO 12345 which would then satisfy the
quantity ordered for that po.
3 - Then I created forms for use and waste (table 2)
4 - What I need to do next is date drive the use and waste to use oldest
inventory and price first.

This database is functioning and we are currently using it. Now I have been
asked to revamp it. Please help me understand where to insert your quantity
on hand function return and any other info you would be willing to share
would be much appreciated.

Thanks Zenia
