question on linking 2 tasks in seperate project files

I have 2 seperate project files and a task in project1 is dependent on the completion of a task in project2. I have linked the tasks and when I do so the task from project1 is copied over to project2 and inserted above the dependency task in project 2. The task in project2 is highlighted in a different color (a lighter grey) so it is easy to see that it is a linked task. Similarly in project1 the task from project2 is inserted, however, its color is not changed so it appears as a normal task in project1.
How do I get the task inserted in project1 to also change color so I can easily identify it as a linked dependency task
Thank

Chris,
Check in Project1 that you have a specific grey bar for external tasks in :
Format / Bar styles... (around the 12th row)

Tell us if it works.

Yes this is set to grey for both the task and milestone. Its really weird because I have multiple project schedules and in another one I was just working on the grey color was set for both the inserted precedessor and sucessor tasks of the linked dependency. I don't know what is different about the last project I just connected linked tasks for but it is working ok. I went back to the original project I was linking external tasks for and it is still not working. If you have any ideas why
a particular project may not be working properly, please let me know
Thanks
