Question on Remaining work recalcing

In MS Project 2003 Professional, for a task that had no hours charged to it
since the last time hours were accepted by the PM (that is, the resource did
not "touch" this task on his tasksheet in WebAccess for the current reporting
period), the remaining work that was scheduled for this time period does not
get moved forward. It stays in the last time period (I can see this in the
Task Usage view on the client). I don't think it should work like this. If
no work was done, the remaining hours should move forward, right?

If the resource enters hours, even "0" hours, and updates, then the
remaining work DOES move forward, which is how I think it should work.

What's going on? Is there an option somewhere that is not turned on that
will move remaining hours forward regardless of whether hours were entered
against a task?

Hi Toney,

the part you are missing is that once your resource have entered their
actual ( and remaining) work and you update the Project, you will need to
reschedule uncompleted work before republishing the updated schedule. By
rescheduling your project plan, the remaining work will move to the new
available work slot.
I hope that makes sense
