Question on single product key and home wireless network

I just want to clarify how a single product key/license works when installed on desktop and laptop. It seems that I can use both, but it won't work when Office detects itself on another computer on a local network. What exactly does "local network" mean? I have a wireless network I use at home; does this mean that if I am working at home, I can't have run Office on both computers? For example, if I needed to send something to print from my desktop, I would need to close Office on my laptop first? Just trying to understand how restricting the restrictions are so I won't be surprised. Thanks!

Sounds like you understand it perfectly. Close one before you launch the
other. And Excel on one, but Word on the other, will still conflict,
because they are tracking Office, not any individual program.

If you have your network properly configured, No, you shouldn't have to hop
from one Mac to another:) You should be able to select, open & print the
docs on one system while working from the other... That's what *networking*
is all about;-)

Sorry Bob,

But this is exactly the problem. The poster has only one license which
prohibits 2 machines on the same network from running Office at the same
time. If the printer is connected to only the desktop, (yes, I agree the
network may not be properly configured) while working on the laptop on a
Word document, the user will have to get the document from the laptop to the
desktop via save as, or a finder copy. Close Word on the lap top, go to the
desk top, start word and print the document.
