question re international characters in e-mail message

I have my keyboard set up as US - International. For me to type the Euro
symbol, I simply press CTRL + ALT + 5 and I see €.

I just now responded to an e-mail where I could not enter that symbol. I
created a new e-mail message and there was no problem for me to enter that
symbol.

Can someone else's e-mail message have a built in limitation that precludes
me from responding using that symbol .... or was this a one time glitch?

Thanks, Dave Horne

Roady, I'm not really sure you answered my question.

I just found it odd that I could create the Euro symbol (€) in a new e-mail
message but not in a received message to which I was in the process of
replying. I was wondering if a rec'd e-mail could impose any restrictions
on the characters I could use in a reply.

Thanks, DH

Did you verify your installed keyboards and language layouts? You could have
(unintentionally switched to another keyboard language which doesn't support
language. CTRL+SHIFT is really easy to press and that is the toggle
combination.

There is no such option as "when replying to my message do not allow that
person to use these characters". They could of course be using a font that
doesn't have a € symbol in it and when you decide to reply in that font.
You'll usually see a placeholder character then when using it.

For anything else you'll need to provide some configuration information to
work with. Version of Outlook, message format, message encoding, that sort
of things.

Roady, you were correct. The same thing happend again and I went to the
Language Bar and saw that it had been inadvertently changed to US from
US-International. I removed the US setting and now never expect to
encounter this situation.

Thanks again!!! DH
