i can't seem to make new mail sounds under Windows XP Pro, using Outlook2003 -
i have Outlook 2003 configured to produce sound when an new email arrives -
Tools-Options-Preferences-EmailOptions-AdvancedEmailOptions-"Play a sound"
box is checked, as is DisplayDesktopAlert.
however, that sound is never played when new email arrives, nor does a
Desktop alert ever appear.
my XP machine is producing sound for other software and a sample of the
sound i chose for email arrival, is acceptable, ie
ControlPanel-SoundsandAudioDevicesProperties-Sounds-ProgramEvents-
NewMailNotification-dropdownbox(chimes) produces the right sound!
What am I doing wrong? does Windows XP Pro have another sound
configuration switch I should use?
