Question regarding adding new users

We're running Project Server 2003. We have a new employee who we've added
to Project Server but they are unable to access any of the Document
Libraries. I was just told by our consultant that:

---

Adding a new user; that needs to access older WSS sites will have to be
manually synchronized. PWA will only add the authorized users to a NEW WSS
sites. So someone will need to

Admin|Manage SharePoint|Manage SharePoint Web Sites, select each web site
and click Synchronize for all the projects the new user is to access. That's
about 150 times - one for each project.. That will take care of the
immediate problem.

----

Is this true? I don't recall having problems before and wanted to confirm.

Lisa:

It's essentially correct information for a resource who ia member of team
members group. You actually need to give them an assignment in the project.

What if they're in the Project Manager's group? Also, for testing purposes
we put them in the administrator's group and it still didn't work. It seems
like something didn't sync properly?

Lisa:

Members of Executives Group get read access to all sites
Team Members get access to sites belonging to projects in which they have an
assignment
Administrators get everything unless you otherwise restrict them
Project Managers have design access to the sites belonging to projects they
manage

If you make changes to your administrator's group, you need to run the
Synchronize Administrators function
If you make changes to your end-user rights that change their access to
SharePoint sites directly, then you need to run the site synchronization for
each site that needs updating

Thanks, I got it now!
