Question regarding Microsoft Word

I've had some problems with Power Point XP having issues reading
Macintosh PICT graphics and Macintosh system 7 sound audio files.
Problems that I never had with Office97. Tell me does MS Word XP also
have issues with these Mac formats? My laptop still runs Office 97 and
will probably remain so until it dies. Its compatible with Mac PICT and
system 7 audio files, but I'm not sure about Word XP.

A quick google suggests that PICTs are just not a compatible format. Since
Office 97 is fairly old, it seems reasonable that at some point
windows/office dropped support for picts. I think OS X is also phasing out
picts.

Similarly for OS 7 audio. Obsolete formats, not supported by new software.
These are just my guesses--if you are really looking for workarounds, I'd
try some intensive google-searching, maybe there's some info out there.

By the way, microsoft.public.office.mac is now obsolete (but there is a
microsoft.public.mac.office to go with microsoft.public.mac.office.word).
