Question regarding software distribution

Hello! We have a campus agreement, and as part of it we can purchase very
cheap Office DVDs to give to our incoming students for free. As part of a
cost cutting measure we were looking at potentially ending the purchase of
the software and allowing our students to install Office via a
firewalled/behind Active Directory login internal website - of which I
questioned the legality of. This is the best place I know of to get the
definitive answer - is anything like this even remotely legal?
