Question related to inactive resource

Hello,

An inactive resource always brings me a message when i open MS project 2007.

I checked and definitely I found that inactive resource was assigned some
tasks. But I suppose the resource had updated the task progress to 100%
before he left. Is there any way I can know the resource really updated the
task progress to 100%?

Thanks
Zhang

Hi Gary,

I checked and found all tasks assigned to the inactive staff without
Remaining Work. So what should I do for this case?

Thanks
Zhang

Zhang:

I ran into this once before, but I can't remember how I resolved it. Try
re-activating the resource and publishing, then deactivate the resource and
see if that helps. Somehow, the system believes that there is remaining work
in there somewhere.

Hi Gary,

I don't have authority to do that. So I hope there is another way to find
out the reason.

Thanks

Hello Gary,
I got explanation from Admin. I copy and paste here. Is it right/reasonable?
------------------------------------------
It is just a notification that you have inactive resource on your plan. YOu
should not remove the inactive resource from your plan because if they did
perform work on your project if you remove them then their actuals and work
they performed on the project will go with it.

Its just understanding project management tools. ITs just a warning. All PMs
who's project have lost resources have gone through this process.

Merry:

Your Administrator is the one who needs to learn a little more about the
tool. The warning does not persist because there is an inactive resource in
your plan, it is because the system believes that there is not only an
inactive resource in the plan, but it also has remaining work associated
with it. There is no need for your to be warned about this constantly. If
you administrator follows the recommendation it can be resolved. You
definitely do not want to remove the resource, just the warning.

Gary,
I agree with you. But our Admin is not in our location, and hard to let them
change their mind.
So now what I can do is to see the alarm message pop every time until the
project is closed.
I tried another thing. I save the project to my local PC. Then I open it,
the message is not there any more. Does this mean anything?

Thanks
Zhang
