Questions Regarding Weird Behavior in MSPS 2007 – SP1

Seeing a few things happen that I would not expect to happen post service
pack 1. Anybody have any insight into why? Here is the detail:

1) When updating the % work complete field the cost field for that same task
changed. Even though it changed minimally, it still changed. I changed the
EV method to be physical % complete which seems to have fixed the problem.
2) In one schedule I cannot get the BCWP to change from $0. This works in
other plans I have but can’t get it to change in this specific one.
3) Had a plan with a few blank lines in it. After saving and publishing,
the notes were deleted. I thought this was fixed in SP1.
4) Have a plan (no blank lines) and the milestones will not stay at 100%
after a save and publish.

Thank you!

Hi Tim --

Regarding item 1, when you change the '% Work Complete' field in
MSProject, you are also changing the 'Actual Work' and 'Remaining
Work' fields, since '% Work Complete' is actually the ratio of those
two fields. If you have one or more resources assigned to that task
with a non-zero hourly rate, then the 'Cost' for that task should
increase ('Cost' = 'Actual Work' x 'Standard Rate').

Regarding item 2, in order for Earned Value calculations to work
properly in MSProject, you need to set a 'Status Date' in the project
schedule (Project > Project Information), and you need to have saved a
baseline for the project (Tools > Tracking > Set Baseline). Have you
checked this?

Good luck!

One update... We did recently role-out MS Office 2007. Could SP1 on the
server have been overwritten or something?

Thank you!
