We have a computer where when the user clicks on the quick print button, any
MS Office product gets the unknown error has occurred bix, )Would you like to
send this to microsoft?). However, when the same user on the same computer
clicks file-->Print and seelcts the exact same printer with the same printer
driver it prints out fine. Office version is 2003, Hp 1320n laser jet
printer. The printer has been unistalled and reinstalled tried both pcl6 and
ps drivers, other people in the same office have No issues printing to the
same printer, with the same type of computer. Any ideas would be
appreciated, it is a real head scratcher.
Thanks

First, what is set at the default printer? When you say, "selects the exact
same printer" are you saying they select a printer from the list of printers
or are you saying the printer they wish to use is already displayed in the
list? If they need to select the printer then make sure the printer you want
to use is set as the default and see if the issue continues to occur. If it
does then I suggest updating the computer to Office 2007 SP1. I can't
promise that's the problem but I do know they changed the behavior for Quick
Print in the service pack.

To obtain the update, In any Office application click the Office Button,
click <application name> Options, click Resources, and then click Check for
Updates.

When I say default printer I mean this is the printer selected in printers
and faxes as the set as default printer for the computer. I work for a
school district updating to Office 2007 is not an option as we do not have
that in any of our budgets, and we would have to upgrade about 1200
computers.
The other computers in this office are set up the same way and have no
issues printing to this particular printer.

I'm sorry, I missed that you said you are using Office 2003, even though
it's there clear as day when I read your post now. When I saw "Quick Print"
I mind went to Office 2007 since that's what it's named in that version.
It's still just called "Print" in previous versions. :)

In that case, my suggestion isn't applicable. See if the issue still occurs
when you start Word in Safe Mode. Start Word and hold the Ctrl key at the
same time. Continue holding the Ctrl key until you're prompted to start in
Safe Mode. If the issue doesn't occur then chances are you have a macro
intercepting the FilePrintDefault command which is the internal name used
for the Print button on the toolbar. If you don't know how to check for
macros (or add-ins) then post back and we'll assist from there.
