Quit opening pages in open browser windows

How can I make it stop opening web pages in browser windows that I have open?
I have those windows open to certain pages for a reason, and it is not so
that Word, or whatever Office program can open a link in it. Why doesn't it
just open the link in a new browser window - Now there's an idea!

Are you using MS Internet Explorer? If so, then try this (from IE's menu):
Tools - Internet Options - Advanced tab. Under Browsing, remove the check
next to "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts").
