Hi Bob:
I agree with you completely
Logically, Option Buttons (Radio Buttons) should not require the use of VBA.
"Something" has to connect the buttons (if they are true Radio Buttons)
since all in a group have to know the state of each other.
In VBA, the group is treated as a single control, and returns a single value
indicating which one was checked.
Of course they could do this in AppleScript, and let's hope they do, in the
next version.
Cheers
Hey John -
When you have a chance please elaborate on this or point me to some
resources. AFAIK, Option Buttons are nothing more than graphic devices
identical to check boxes except for their appearance - they can be used as
simple boolean indicators of Yes/No, On/Off, etc. MS simply doesn't offer
them as a Form design element. My impression is that's the case because of
the *convention* that suggests they be used in Option Groups where any one
option cancels any previously selected option rather than for individual
stand-alone selections.
I don't even see where VBA is involved by necessity in Option Groups. OS X
uses them in a variety of Preference settings, Appearance being only one
example. Other software does too. In fact, MS employs them in Word 2008,
though sparingly... The Page Numbering - Number Format dialog, for example.
