Ran disk defrag, folders/files no longer in alpha order

I use Windows XP as well as Office Xp 2002, both products up to date with
latest SP's and patches. I ran Disk Defragmenter under Windows System Tools
in order to tidy up the disk a bit. Windows Explorer shows all files and
folders to be in the correct alphabetical sequences, BUT when trying to open
a document/file from within any Office product, the folder and file lists are
in a total mess, making it almost impossible to locate a folder or file, as
they are in no sequence whatsover. How can I fix this?

If you click View, Details, and then the Name header, does that put it
right? If so, hold down the Ctrl key and X out of the dialog box.

Tx a lot. Such an easy solution, will remember for future use if it should
happen again.
