Random blank slides with Vox Proxy

I have transferred several presentations to a new laptop. When I ran them,
some had random blank slides. I reported the problem to this group and
followed up on the instruction and the PPS shows ran just fine. I now have
the same problem in a presentation saved as a PPV- Vox Proxy ADD IN. The Vox
Proxy animations work just fine as well as the Volume Control. The only
problem is that several slides show up as blanks. These are non animated
JPEG image slides. Depending upon how I run the show those slides will
appear as a white blank or a black blank. I can run the show from outside
PPT by clicking on the PPV file or I can run the show from within PPT by
turning Vox Proxy on and pressing the F-5 key.
I'm running Win XP PRO and PPT 2003. Graphics acceleration is disabled, fast
save is turned off and all the other suggested tweaks have been applied. I
downloaded any and all updates I did not have and spoke to tech support at
the laptop MFG. Every thing is working as it should. I've been in contact
with tech support at Vox Proxy and tried all their suggestions. It seems to
be a problem with PPT but I'm mot sure what. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.

What Sonia said....but also....what resolution are the JPGs (in pixels please... e.g. 1024x768)

I updated anything in WIN XP PRO and Office. All the drivers that were
included with my laptop are the latest. If there are other drivers out there
specifically for PPT that are causing a problem I would update them if I
knew what they were.

Most were 2048 x 1536 Some in the very beginning were 1527 x1223 and
1823 x 1207

Video drivers are frequently updated by manufacturers. For example, I have
an ATI video card and the drivers are updated about every 3-4 months. The
drivers that come with Windows XP are about 2 years old. Drivers installed
by the laptop manufacturer are perhaps a year old. Visit the website of you
laptop's manufacturer and look for downloads or drivers, often categories
that are listed under support. The reason that I suggest that are that
there are two *key* words in your description - - "random" and "blank".
Both are often caused by the video card.

I followed your advice, contacted the manufacturer who told me about a 'new'
driver for my ATI card that was obtainable free from a website. Although it
was not the manufacturers I was told it would work. It worked just fine with
all PPT except the PPV (vox Proxy) file. I still got random blanks. BUT it
works perfectly as a PPS. Figure that one.

Jeff, I am having a similiar problem with my PPTs created under PPT
XP/2002.-random blank slides when the presentation is run with PPT
2003. I have not been able to solve the problem with all Office 2003
patches and the latest video driver from NVIDIA for my GeForce 5200
Ultra. Have you had any further success in solving your random slide
display problem? -Paul

I'm still batting zero. It seems as though Vox Proxy does something to the
PowerPoint presentation to cause random blank slides. IF I run the PPS
without Vox Proxy it usually works fine. I've been in contact with their
Tech Support but still no answers. It does work fine on my desktop and it
worked just fine on an older, dated laptop with WINDOWS 2000. Later this
summer I'm going to have to do several presentations involving Vox Proxy and
PPT. What I may have to do is set up a separate Vox proxy introduction, end
it and then manually start a PPS. It won't as smoothly as a full integrated
show but I really have no other choice and my audience will not have a clue
that anything is amiss (I Hope).

Have you considered either of these two possibilities. One, using
PPTViewer 2003 to play your presentation or two, using a screen
capture application like Camtasia to make a movie (avi) of the
presentation which , in turn, can be made into a DVD or VCD?

I find that my presentations that fail under PPT 2003 play fine on
PPTVIewer 2003.

BTW, what is a Vox Proxy?

I haven't tried either of those 2 suggestions. I have Camtasia and have used
it before but I'm not crazy about the quality of the Camtasia (avi)
presentation as opposed to an unaltered PPS or Vox Proxy file. I will play
around with using PPTViewer 2003.

Vox Proxy is an animation software that integrates very nicely with Power
Point. It allows for various animated characters with audio to greatly
enhance PPT presentations.
