Random pauses - powerpoint(xp and 2003)

M

Mr Tezza

Please help me
I use powerpoint a lot for presentations.
I dont use special fonts or OLE media (video/pics/audio).
all they are is text slides with basic animation (slide transitions).

When i turn on hardware acceleration i get random pauses that last
from 3-9seconds on every show i run. they occur at random throughout
the show but only occur once.

With hardware acceleration OFF the show works without fault. apart
from the animations which dont go so smoothly.

nothing i can do will prevent it when hardware acceleration is on.
however the machines played games in Direct3D and OpenGL without
faults.

I have tested 3 pc's now and the only thing that has remained the same
is the leadtek nvidia GF4 4800TI (vivo).

I have tried every thing i can think of.

Motherboards:
i have used an intel chipset (845PE) + P4/533 3Ghz, nvidia
chipset(nforce2) + barton 2500+, and a via chipset KT400 + barton
2500+.

OS:
windows xp, windows 2k.

DirectX:
8, 9a, 9b, 9c

powerpoint:
2002(XP) and 2003.

Nvidia (detonator/forceware) drivers:
61.xx, 53.xx, 51.xx
and the real Leadtek drivers:
61.xx, 53.xx

Nothing i change fixes the problem. the pc is on a domain, but even
off the network it has the same error.

please help me - i want to use h/w accel to make them look smooth but
i cant afford the 3-9sec pauses.

If its a card issue (which is my suspission) what cards (dualhead)
work well with M$ powerpoint
