RBS, Timesheet Approval

O

OBG

We have built the RBS with the following outline structure
1.0 Senior Director
1.1 Director
1.1.1 Team member

We have also set the permissions for the direct reports to: Allow users in
this category to view information for all resources they manage.

The enterprise resource pool has been set for a value for each of the
resources that need to post time in PWA and then have it approved.

The director is receiving time sheets to approve for the team members and
also for themselves and the senior director does not get the directors time
sheet for approval.

The OLAP cube has not been updated since these changes were done. Does that
need to be done, or is there something else that we have not set properly.
Thanks

Hi,

My experience is that RBS has little to do with who gets the time entry
updates, only with who can see resource time sheets in the resource
center.

Updates go to whoever manages the task that time was entered against.
This would be the person or account who published the task. It can be
changed if somebody else, in Project Professional, selects a task, then
republishes it, remembering to checkmark the "Become manager of these
assignments" box.

Your problem will be a permission setting. e.g. Are the Senior Director
and Director members of a single group associated with My Direct
Reports or are they included in different groups which might explain
the different behaviour?

You seem to have allowed Directors to view their own details and
approve their own timesheets - why if you want the senior director to
approve? Note timesheets can be routed to a number of approvers but
when approved by the first approver will be removed from subsequent
approvers.

Cube has no impact on this process

Mike, could you be a little more specific. We do not want the directors to
approve their own timesheets. How should I change the permissions for the
groups.

Thanks for your help

Typically the My Direct Reports category is used to control timesheet
approval. Ensure that in the "Resources: Select the resources whose
information can/cannot be viewed by users in this category" section
only the bottom option is checked "Allow users in this category to view
information for all resources that they manage directly."

My Direct Reports are defined as those resources associated with the
RBS level immediately beneath your RBS level
