Re – Excel Match WorkSheet Function
1. Enter the following text strings into the Range A1:A5 of an Excel
spreadsheet respectively :-
2. A1 = "A"
3. A2 = "AB"
4. A3 = "ABC"
5. A4 = "ABCD"
6. A5 = "ABCDE"
7. Enter into the cell B1 a formula, =Match(A$1:A$5, A$1:A$5,0).
8. Fill down from cell B1 to B5 ; the given range shows a series of
numbers namely, 1 to 5.
9. Enter the formula into any other cell (beyond the Row nos. 1 to 5)
namely, =Match(A$1:A$5, A$1:A$5,0) ; it shows an error.
10. Please explain the cause of error as observed.
11. Please explain that the formula would only be evaluated within the
range of Row nos. 1 to 5.
