re-activation

I'm wondering if anyone knows the secret to this: Not the sharpest knife in
the drawer, I used to enjoy trying things--Linux etc--and, as if that
weren't enough have gone through a systems problem whereby I had to replace
a computer after several reformats and fresh starts AND a faulty hard drive
with the same thing happening. Soooo, long story short, without knowing it
was happening, I used up the allowable number of activations for my Office
2007. I called and explained what happened and the person gave me a new set
of numbers to insert. I mentioned that I had a new portable ordered and
asked if I'd be able to install on it and he said yes, I can activate it on
two machines but, of course, it didn't work so I'll have to call again. I
just spent an hour or so trying to find some method of making contact with
Microsoft to ask if this activation counter can't be reset as, I'd think,
their activation and various system upgrades seem to have "looked" into my
system to verify/authenticate things would have concluded that it's always
been a computer with the same internet connection which has been activated
and a second or third system has never run any sort of upgrade. In short,
I'm thinking they can tell that I haven't put Office on ten or fifteen
computers and sold them to people who are using it.

Can/will anyone tell me if what I'm hoping for is possible and suggest a
number to call or, better yet, url to click or email address to send the
request?

Thanks,
Tim

PS Yes, I've learned my lesson and won't be trying a bunch of random things
which eventually force me to reformat and start over again!! :)

Why? Just call the toll free number given when you insert your location
after internet activation fails. All in all takes about FIVE
MINUTES!!!!!.........??????

Because it should take ten seconds when I simply insert the number. I can't
imagine my Chevy not working because I took the engine out and put it back
in too many times.

Not a good analogy. You don't licence your Chevy engine from Chevrolet, do
you? In fact you are free to replace it with whatever you like, bore it out,
etc etc.
