Re-add TRAVEL tab

In trying OneNote for my first time I was trying to plan a trip. I clicked
under PERSONAL and found the TRAVEL tab/section. I was working in it, but
want to CLOSE the section I was in (not thinking it would close the entire
project without saving). Now my project is gone and also the tab named
TRAVEL is gone. I tried to DETECT AND REPAIR and restore to original
settings without saving any customizations. It still brings up all the items
under MY NOTEBOOK except TRAVEL (under PERSONAL). Everytime I try to add
TRAVEL it says it already exists...where??? How do I get it back to normal
the way it was when I first opened the program?

In OnNote 2003 you can close a section and it won't show up in the tabs
on the screen. However, that file is still located in the folder where it
was before. In this aspect you can think of OneNote kind of like a word
processor that can have multiple files open. It just has a nifty
interface for jumping around between those files and it remembers what
files were open before.

Just use the file / Open menu and browse to the folder where that section
was located. You should be able to open it there. You can also just find
the file using Windows Explorer and double-click on it. This will open it
in OneNote in the correct folder.

P.S. To Microsoft: I kind of miss the ability to close sections and
folders in ON 2007. I imagine you took that feature away because it
caused this very confusion. And I know I can move a section to another
notebook and close that notebook. But sometimes I still want to have a
section stored in a particular folder but don't want it displayed in ON
cluttering things up.

If you just Closed the tab, it should still be there (and all changes
made to it will be saved since ON always saves changes without the need
for you to explicitly do anything to save).

Do a File | Open | Section and navigate to your "My Notebook" folder (by
default it should be C:\Documents and Settings\{yourname}\My Documents\My
Notebook and the TRAVEL.ONE file should be there.

I looked under MY NOTEBOOK and under PERSONAL and the only thing that is
there is GENERAL. What happened to SHOPPING, SCRAPBOOK, TRAVEL, and JOURNAL?

The question is, how did you "look"? Did you "look" within OneNote using
only the tabs and the navigation drop down list? Or did you "look" using
the File / Open dialog? Did you "look" using Windows Explorer. Did you
"look" by searching your entire hard drive using the Search feature in
Windows Explorer?
