I have recently sent 2 Access database to 2 individuals
by attachment. One of them do not receive the attachment
at all and the other who had received it could not open
because the file extension was changed to .dat instead of
the .mdb. Why is that so and how to rectify this
problem? Please help.

Not a database issue: it's probably because you are using MS Outlook
Express, and your recipients are using normal mail clients. OE has a
nonstandard methods of wrapping up attachements in a proprietary TNEF
format file called something.dat.

There are decoding programs around (try googling for FENTUN - un-tnef
backwards, geddit?); or you can upgrade to a standard email program. I
think it's possible to train OE into using standard MIME extensions but I
don't know how.
