I am having this same problem, I have made the change,
but it will not stay - I have to do this each time I open
Excel. How do I get it to stay or to turn this feature
off.

Thanks!

Hi Jenny!

Check for the existence of a Personal.xls file that is usually the
first to open

Use:

Window > Unhide

Select Personal.xls
Change the setting there
Save the File
Hide it again

If you don't have a Personal.xls then check all files in the Startup
directory. Use Tools > Options General to find that directory.
