Re-install 07

I have new HD, XP w/SP3. Installed Office 07 twice now. Each time, I copy
old PST files to new profile in Doc & Settings, in both App Data and Local
Setting folders. Each time, Outlook does not see old emails and old address
book. They are in the new folder in new Docs *& Settings profile, but not
being accessed by Outlook. Outlook opens but as a new first time install. I
want old data to use and show. It is there!

Help or links to solutions would be appreciated.

Overwriting the existing pst file can corrupt your mail profile so I
suggest you start over.
Do Control Panel-Mail-Show Profiles-Add.
Then copy the old pst file to a location OTHER than the default
location. Somewhere like your Documents would be good.
Then open Outlook. Do File-Open-Outlook Data File and navigate to where
you put the old file.
You then have two options. You can either copy and paste, or drag and
drop, the old data to the new file, or you can set the old file to be
the default delivery location. (You can do the latter from within
Control Panel-Mail).
For future reference, here's the right way to transfer data from one
Outlook to another:

And to add to Roady's comment, do NOT overwrite existing pst's - its not
neccessary to locate the pst's in what is the usual default OL location

Thanks to both Gordon and DL. I printed out all the link data and will try
when I get home. This problem is actually for my wife's email account. She
has been patient with me while I try to solve this. This PC re-build was
supposed to go smoother than this, but there always seems to be problems.

One other question - all the link data is for Outlook 03 and I have Outlook
07. Or rather the version of Office it came with is from Office 07. Is
there a difference in the instructions, or not enough to confuse me.

Thanks again
