Re-install updates quirk

Jess

I recently re-installed my Office 2003 (I did not delete the "Office Update
11" folder before I did so - I only remembered it was there afterwards - I
presume it'll be ok). Anyway, the three KB-type updates that I had prior to
the re-installation disappeared, and after visiting the update site, I had
four updates (re)installed. One was new, the other three had the same
descriptions as my original three updates - but one of these (a junk mail
filter, I think it was) now had a different KB number! I used to have
KB890854, and now I have KB891067. Is this normal?

I ask because I next intend to try and sort out my Automatic Windows Updates
(following the file corruption I suffered a while ago), and I am now worried
that I ought to have done that first. Will the Office updates I have done be
ok, and independent of the Windows ones?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Jess,

In the case of the Junk Filter update the KB891067
is an updated version from the KB890854 Filter update
you previously had as mentioned in this KB article
(article number is the same as the update number)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;891067&FR=1

There are cases where an Office update may be dependent
on a Windows update, but rarely the other way around.
At present the Windows update site and the Office update
site are separate, but MS is planning on integrating the
two at some point in the future.
