re install will not accept product key

Hello world,
My first time here, Hope I am in the right area...

I have a legal bought copy of office pro student edition..
After a hard drive crash I have reinstalled the software, but th
product key is coming up as invalid.. After four attempts I know fo
sure it is not my dodgy typing..
anyone got any ideas ???????????

Just for clarity .. The product is a shop bought boxed copy wit
product key on the case.

When you recovered your PC did you do this with a recovery disk, and if so
did that include a trial version of office, that you failed to uninstall
prior to installing your version from cd?
