Re-Installation of Office

J

John S.

I purchased the full version of MS Office clear back to
about version 4.5 I have continued to purchase upgrades
up through Office XP.

Recently I had a hard drive failure and have had to re-
install all my applications.

When I attempt to re-install Office XP, it will not
recognize any of my old CDs... and I get an error message
1608 about not having any qualifying products. I have all
of the previous CDs, except I have misplaced the Office
2000 CD. XP won't recognize them.

I installed the 1994-95 version of Office, and XP will
still not recognize it.

I am having the same problems with Frontpage and Visio
2000.

I PURCHASED ALL OF THESE UPGRADES, AM A REGISTERED USER
AND LEGALLY OWN THEM, BUT NOW I CANNOT USE THEM... I PAID
MICROSOFT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OVER THE YEARS.

Can any one help me on this, or tell me where to go for
help? Thanks!!!

Office 95 is *NOT* a qualifying product for XP. Unless MS change their
policy for 2003, qualifying products are the previous TWO versions (i.e. for
XP that's 2000 and 97). If you have every version back to 4.5, why are you
not using your 97 disc as a qualifier? Please note that you do not have to
have the application installed, merely point the installation to the drive
that contains the qualifying CD. If you do not have either 97 or 2000 then
you do not have the right to use the upgrade and must purchase the full
licence.

Hi John,

Office XP upgrades only recognize Office 97 and
Office 2000 CD products (nothing older).

MS FrontPage 2002 standalone upgrade recognizes only
prior editions of MS FrontPage or MS Office 2000 Premium

MS Office Visio 2002 only Visio 5 (pre-MS) and
Visio 2000.

For a replacement CD for Office 2000 you can contact
Microsoft through the numbers on http://microsoft.com/worldwide
(800-360-7561 in the U.S.).
