Re-installing Office due to Hard drive failure?

L

lscroggie

Hi There,
I have a macbook that recently had a hard drive meltdown and I lost all the programmes that were installed on it, including Office 2004. The thing is, it was my parents that bought it in the first place: they got whatever version it is that has three license keys so they could install it on their macbook and on mine. The issue is that I am now in Australia and they are in Singapore, with the installation discs. My question is this - what can I do to get it back! Is the only way to do it be getting them to send the disc over? And even then, can I reuse the same license key I did before? Or is that gone - fortunately the third one hasn't been used so I could use that (they can tell me the key, obviously). Or should I contact Microsoft?

Any help would be extremely gratefully received.

Thanks
Lewis

Yes. I suggest buying an external drive for backups. If you had this
wouldn't be a problem.

Yes

If you can get re-installed and you are not on the same network, using the
same key is not a problem.

It might be easier to buy the Home & Student version of 2008. $130.99 at
Amazon for US price.

You need to get an Installation CD from somewhere. It doesn't matter where.

Your parents can email you the key and you can use it to install from any
disk.

Once you have the key, Microsoft Australia will sell you a replacement disk
for about 30 bucks.

Hope this helps
